Rehabilitated Great Horned Owl Released at Refuge

Healthy Habitats at Caddo Lake participants were treated to a special conservation event along Harrison Bayou on Saturday, April 21. In celebration of Earth Day and the opening of six new paddling trails at Caddo Lake, wildlife rehabilitator Beverly Grage of Wild & Free Again in Lindale released a mature great horned owl to the bottomland hardwood forest along Harrison Bayou.

The raptor was injured two months ago by head trauma from being hit by a car.

The Friends group plans to work with Free & Wild Again as a release site and for complimentary programming at the Refuge for children and adults.
